So let me give you the honest version. The real pay bands. The real ranges by role and experience. The real difference between a salaried job and a fractional engagement. My honest recommendation. Start full-time for 1 to 2 years to get reps and a brand on your resume. Switch to freelance once you have 3 to 5 case studies. Move to fractional once you have a reputation and a pipeline. That is the path most senior vibe coding experts in India I know have actually taken. Including me.

From ₹0 to ₹3 L/month per client: the actual path

I get DMs asking this every week. Here is the unromantic version of how a vibe coder in India goes from zero income to charging ₹3 L per 30-day engagement. No shortcuts. Trust me on this one.

  1. Months 1–3. Build 5 free projects in public. Post each one on LinkedIn with screenshots and what broke. Income: ₹0.
  2. Months 4–6. Land 2 paid gigs at ₹10–25k each. Friends, friends of friends, anyone who has heard you talk about AI. Treat them like real clients. Income: ₹20–50k/month.

Do I need a CS degree to be a vibe coding expert in India?+
